Distance Checker 2d
|Version:||2019.100||Requirements:||uMMORPG2d, Tools||Script Define:||None|
|Core Changes:||No||Tutorial Video:||No|
Allows to handle huge scenes better on the client by disabling game objects (or whole groups of game objects) the further they are away from the player.
- [Required] Attach the script in this AddOns “Scripts [Attach to game object or group]” to any game object in your scene.
- [Required] This game object must be NO entity (no monster, player, pet, resource node, etc.). Just a simple scenery object.
- [Required] This game object must have one or more child objects (the game object itself does not count).
- [Optional] Quickstart: Create a new (empty) game object next to the default scene temple and attach the script to it. Put the temple into that game object so that it is its child. Now play the game, the temple disappears and only appears when the player gets close to it.
Occlusion and Camera View are not golden bullets, objects still require calculations and their update functions run. By using this script the objects that are far away from the player become disabled, this reduces overhead calculations quite a bit. It only works for client side scenery objects though.
If you dont like that distant objects pop into view, consider using a fog effect.
